In a short post on the Steam Community, Valve's Chet Faliszek announced that they have started shipping developer version of their VR headset Vive along with accompanying hardware.

"In the box is a headset, 2 Lighthouse base stations, 2 wireless Steam VR controllers, various cables, instructions, and everything else needed to get started," wrote Faliszek.

"This will allow developers to target the same system consumers will have in their homes later this year."

Developers that will get this early version of the hardware are both large AAA studios and independent companies making smaller titles. Valve plans to continue sending out Vive Developer Editions during the next few months.
