Gabe Newell Talk's About Ricochet 2 But We All Know He Means Half Life 3
Due to some details that were revealed during the last interview with Valve's boss Gabe Newell, fans of the upcoming Half-Life 3 strongly believe that while talking about Ricochet 2 Gabe was actually revealing details about Half Life 3 development.
Although development of Valve's Half-Life 3 is covered with a veil of silence, as it seems, the developers of Gordon Freeman adventures are working hard on a sequel but still are not able to talk about it due to significant unexpected results, both positive and negative, that postponed the game's reveal.
Instead of revealing the project that would suffer a large number of transformations and delays, Valve decided to keep it secret as long as they don't decide it is a perfect moment for its announcement. This was revealed in a podcast interview with Gabe Newell that recently occured with Seven Day Cooldown staff.
Instead of mentioning Half-Life 3, Mr. Newell talked about 'Ricochet 2', a project that likely does not exist, but appears to be a code name for Half-Life 3.
Gabe Newell said: “In terms of Ricochet 2, we always have this problem that when we talk about things too far in advance,” and he continued: “We end up changing our minds as we're going through and developing stuff, so as we're thinking through the giant story arc which is Ricochet 2, you might get to a point where you're saying something is surprising us in a positive way and something is surprising us in a negative way, and, you know, we'd like to be super-transparent about the future of Ricochet 2.
The problem is, we think that the twists and turns that we're going through would probably drive people more crazy than just being silent about it, until we can be very crisp about what's happening next."
While many of you can be angry on Valve's discretion regarding Half-Life 3, in our opinion, this is a perfect thing game developer can do as long as they don't believe it is a perfect time to unveil the upcoming blockbuster FPS game.
