Doom 3 BFG Edition Launching in October

Bethesda has revealed the release date for the remastered version of Doom 3.

Doom 3 BFG Edition, the upgraded box set containing the original Doom 3 and its expansion, Resurrection of Evil, will be released on October 16 in North America and October 19 in Europe, announced publisher Bethesda today.

Aside from both the game and the expansion, the pack will include seven new levels called ‘The Lost Mission’ that are designed specifically for the BFG edition, and a bunch of visual, audio and gameplay improvements. The PC and Xbox 360 version will be priced $29.99 and the PlayStation 3 version will cost $39.99. While the updated graphics and new content does sound sweet, the price seems a little steep for what is essentially a seven year old game.

Maybe id wants to introduce the new generation of gamers to the series and set the stage for Doom 4, of which we haven't heard in quite a long while.
