Blizzard Entertainment Plans to Spread Into Console Market

Developer spotlightBy Gamersbook on Nov 1621844

The recently announced job openings for three console positions suggest that Blizzard Entertainment is seriously thinking about securing a slice of the lucrative console pie for themselves.

The console market is luring many game developers and publishers into the exploration of its ever-thriving universe. Blizzard is currently in search of a talented Senior Producer, Lead Designer and Lead Programmer for their Diablo 3 Development Team, with more job openings probably to follow. The new recruitment suggests that Diablo 3 will be released on consoles in addition to its Windows/Mac counterpart. Whether they plan to release it for PS3/XBOX360/Wii or wait for the next generation of consoles remains to be seen.

Here is the official Blizzard quote:

"As some of you may have seen over on the Diablo III home page, we’re currently exploring a Diablo-related concept for consoles. As we’ve said in the past, with proper care the gameplay could suit the console platform, and we’re interested in seeing what talent out there might be interested in contributing to such a project.

To further reiterate what’s posted on the home page: this is not an announcement of a console title. We are first and foremost developing Diablo III for Windows and Mac PCs, and we have no intention of allowing a console interpretation to delay or otherwise affect the release of the game. As always feel free to discuss this topic here, but please note that we don’t have any further details to share at this time.

If you or someone you know would be interested in joining the Diablo team, then head over to the job posts to check out the requirements and submit an application."

Ports are something that makes me feel sick ... I hope that serious company such as Blizzard Entertainment won't allow bad porting since they could already learn from many people that failed before them badly...

Also i don't even see how it is possible to port any Blizzard blockbuster game and make it feel as good as original (Pc Platform)
