The Swarm Led by IdrA Prevails at MLG in Washington D.C.

Finals of the MLG in Washington D.C. saw the Zerg player IdrA prevail over his Terran opponent SelecT.

Greg "IdrA" Fields has been one of the most followed StarCraft 2 players by the RTS community since the early stages of SC2 beta as well as after the official release of the game. Being a former Starcraft: Brood War progamer and one of the rare foreigners to appear in a televised Korean pro league match, the expectations were high of him.

However, IdrA fell short in one of the first major StarCraft 2 tournaments, as he lost to MorroW in the finals of the IEM Cologne. Despite the defeat, it didn't take long for IdrA to go deep in yet another tournament, this time reaching the finals of MLG Washington D.C.

He cruised through the winner brackets of the tournament, dropping a single game only to ajtls, QXC and KiWiKaKi. The last obstacle between IdrA and a victory in a major SC2 tournament was SelecT, an experienced player who had to make his way to the grand finals through the loser brackets.

The grand finals featured a match between the Zerg, represented by IdrA, and the Terran forces led by SelecT. The former proved to be the better player for the day, securing a clear 2-0 victory for the Swarm. For his great performance, IdrA was rewarded with the $2,500 first place prize, while SelecT took home $1,500.
