Fnatic Are the New Counter Strike IEM European Champions
Counter Strike Intel Extreme Master V European Championship Finals (Day 4).
Counter Strike Grand Final between fnatic and mTw.int was played on the last day of Intel Extreme Master V European Championship Finals Event.
fnatic vs mTw.int / 2-1
The first match of the final was held on de_nuke and ended 16-11 in mTw's favour. fnatic won the first round by the tight result of 8-7. mTw dominated the second round and won by 9-3 making the final result of 16-11 in mTw's favour.
The second match was held on de_train and was by far the most unpredictable, as the match ended in a draw and required not one but two overtimes to get the winner. The first round was dominated by fnatic who won by 11-4, but mTw managed to make a comeback in the second by winning with the same result.
Since it was a draw, the teams had to play in overtime. mTw won the first overtime round by 3-2 but fnatic refused to lose, as defeat in overtime would mean their overall defeat. They managed to win the second overtime round by the same result of 3-2. Since teams were still at a draw, a second overtime match had to be played. fnatic secured the victory by winning both rounds in the second overtime match.They won the first one by 3-2 and second one 3-1 making the final result of 26-23.
The third and deciding match was held on de_inferno. mTw was better in the beginning as they won the first round by 8-7 but were demolished in the second round when fnatic defeated them by 8-1 making the final result of 16-9 and effectively winning the tournament.
