Beyond Gaming Bloodline Champions Qualifier Two
The Beyond Gaming Bloodline Champions Qualifier Round #2 went down today online to the tune of about 2,500 excited viewers as they all came out to support their favorite teams as they battle for a secured spot into the Grand Finals on June 4th, 2011.
With the first cup behind us, and an already crowned Orz now secure in their placements in the top 8, there was definitely a smaller turnout of teams today for the Beyond Gaming Bloodline Champions Qualifying Cup #2 tournament. But its not all about quantity, right?
Today [SK-Gaming], [Team Dignitas], [in7 esports] and [Zowie Gear] all battled in a 16 team tournament to secure a #1 spot in order to be included in the Finals going down on June 4th, 2011. Competitiors included [Two Gluttons One Cup Alchemist], [Moving Fast Men], [Special Tactics], [Chasing the Dragon] and a few others.
In the Round of 16 [Zowie Gear] actaully got a bye as [Seeking for Perfection] failed to show up to the tournament, while both [Blue] and [SK Gaming] handily defeated their opponents and met up in the Quarter Finals for a rematch from the Qualifier Cup #1. [Moving Fast Men] actually knocked out [Sweethearts] to move on, while [in7 esports], [Two Gluttons One Alchemist] and [Team Dignitas] also achieved victory early on.
The Quarter Finals were definitely jam packed with [Team Dignitas] matched up against [Zowie Gear] and [in7 esports] defeating [Two Gluttons One Alchemist]. The rematch of [SK Gaming] and [Blue] was a repeat of History as [SK Gaming] got to advance to the Semi Finals to meet up with [Moving Fast Men], who did unfortunately get knocked out and ended up fourth overall in the cup.
[Team Dignitas] and [in7 esports] went head to head in the Semi Finals, but surprisingly, [in7 esports] took the cake and went on to face off against [SK Gaming] in the finals to spectacular games. When some of the words top known players clash, great moments are made, and although it did come down to a tie breaking game in the Bo3 finals, [SK Gaming] did top out to become the Qualifying Cup #2 champions. [Team Dignitas] ended up third.
An exciting cup this week, and now we have two of the eight contestants chosen from those Grand Finals. With a $5,000 prize pool thanks to all the sponsors (Justin.tv, Qpad, Thermaltake, Stunlock Studios), the competition is heating up and I am eagerly awaiting the results come June 4th when everyone gets to go head to head.
