Beyond Gaming Bloodline Champions Last Chance Qualifier
The Beyond Gaming Bloodline Champions Last Chance Qualifier went down on June 2nd, 2011 online as some of the favorite teams in Bloodline Champions came out to battle for a secured spot into the Grand Finals on June 4th, 2011.
After the exciting news that both [Blue] and [Team Dignitas] would be joining the already qualified winners of [Orz] [SK Gaming] and [Haem No Idea], Beyond Gaming hosted a Last Chance qualifier in order to fill the last three remaining slots. The rules are simple; top three placements get to go to the Grand Finals on Saturday.
With exciting news like this, we had some of the remaining top teams show up to duke it out, including [Seeking for Perfection], [in7 esports], [Sweethearts] and [Mudbutt]. There were quite a few new teams this round, as well as some reformed teams, such as Presto leading [My Nose Hurts] and Mushashii heading up [Applejuice boys].
But getting off to an excellent start, [Seeking for Perfection] defeated the returning GotKunju team of [Nice Boat], and then even recieved a Bye as [Mudbutt] forfeit in the Quarter Finals. Some top teams from the Division 1 Diamond tier got to play, as [Awesomeness] and [SWTOR Buddies] easily defeated their Ro16 matchups to move onward.
In the Quarter Finals, [Sweethearts] got to prove their mettle up against the #1 team in Season 3, [Awesomeness], but eventually did come out on top, shaking the ego's of the numero uno team. [in7 esports] returned with a vengeance easily defeating [Useful talent to have] and [SWTOR Buddies] coasted 2-0 over [A Team with No Name].
In the Semi Finals, [in7 esports] took the cake against [Seeking for Perfection] 2-1, knocking them into the Third Place matchup, and [SWTOR Buddies] made it look easy over [Sweethearts] 2-0. For third place dominance, we had the two teams go head to head to have [Sweethearts] come out on top, securing themselves the last spot in the Grand Finals pool.
For the finals, [in7 esports] were taken aback by the full power of the Glutton as [SWTOR Buddies] took first place. All three teams made it to the Grand Finals pool.
An exciting cup this week, and now we have all eight contestants ready to compete in the Grand Finals. With a $5,000 prize pool thanks to all the sponsors (Justin.tv, Qpad, Thermaltake, Stunlock Studios), the competition is heating up and I am eagerly awaiting the results come June 4th when everyone gets to go head to head.
As always, the videos of the event will be ready to go on the FourCourtJester youtube channel in the next few days, and you can find me regularly updating my Twitter as well when streams go live and with periodic updates.
