    The Anti-Piracy Experiment

We ran an experiment with the pre-build of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Asking questions on illegal downloading, DRMs, and if illegal downloader's would buy? They did!

    DRM, Something, Profit!

    DRM, Something, Profit! Blog image

DRM companies blindly believe that their software protection is infallible. Ironically this is their fall from grace! Security companies don't understand digital piracy, and still believe the best way to stop it is a virtual wall!

    The Piracy Misconception of Multiplayer

Often PC singleplayer games are cracked within the first official release date. But what about Multiplayer PC games? Most people believe that they are uncrackable, and yet sometimes the multiplayer portion of a game is not even DRM protected in the first place. So why do Multiplayer games boast such high sales figures when the singleplayer can barely survive a day before its pirated?

I'm playing on PS3 so I don't have problems with this but I downloaded CoD 4 on my pc and found some pirated servers, works with no problems

The exciting sets my Heart Flickering!

It's been a while since I have written a new blog ... and that's a good thing. In the small break I reflected and realised a few things; one that previous blogs where too long. And two, droning on about the facts of piracy can be a little annoying. But we are all gamers here; this is something to cherish and to constantly talk about. So the new revised WarFace Blog is to talk about the real important stuff, gaming and gamers. And occasionally Piracy...! Please note there are spoilers for "The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings", quest "with Flickering Heart"

Game: The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings

    Digital Pirates Will Pay!

I think the most shocking thing about if digital pirates would pay for PC games, is that everyone knows they would! As a recent independent poll, on a nameless private tracker site, says yes digital pirate will pay for games!!

    • supergeek133, last year

      Hmm.. interesting.

There are a few things I find interesting here. First is the stat where 43% said they'd buy a game if it was amazing. This troubles me because it only furthers the attitude of major game companies that they make AAA titles or bust. If people won't buy millions and millions of copies it just isn't worth it to buy.

Second is the multiplayer aspect. I singlehandedly believe this is the cause for any less amount of piracy we have in the PC space today. Multiplayer (especially online) is one of the biggest drivers of game sales today IMO. Without that many modern games are rental, finish in eight hours material.

Lastly (and this goes back to something I wrote awhile ago) is lack of demos BEFORE release. People just can't afford to spend $60 on every game that comes out anymore and have it suck ass. A simple demo (especially a multiplayer one) would go a long way to this.

I do believe piracy is a problem, and I also believe this scares many people away from the PC space. However I think the cause is on both sides of the money.

ok mate you hit a hot nut.

Piracy you say....ok check this out: Crysis 2 comes out and it costs 60€ (that is around 400 kuna...croatian valute) and that is 1/5 of normal croatian payment.

So tell me i love games love to play everything how can i monthly give 1/5 of my payment for a game? Well Croatia is still a good county to live in (NOT) but imagine how things are in middle east or somewhere else. So by me piracy is a necessery evil. Or do you want to put person who WANTS to play but still cant coz he doesnt have that much amount of money??? Put him behind bars yeah taht would solve the problem, or even bill him with a fine. take him  everything.....

Only thing developers can do against pirates is next : DEVELOP FREE TO PLAY GAMES WITH A PAYMENT METHOD (like LOL ROM LOTR online)

now you ask what about singleplayer games?...well they are dead MMO and multyplayer is the future :P

Free Rider vs the Illegal Downloader

Free Rider vs the Illegal Downloader Blog image

Free Rider Pirate: You know the type of illegal downloader, a computer with several 1TB harddrives. Wants everything for nothing, has every game, movie, music album and more. If the internet ever went down this guy could reseed it!

    The Glorious PC’s Greatest Shame!

I'd like to think that the PC started the whole gaming to mainstream trend. However the PC is a huge shame when it comes to piracy! A shame that might cause publishers to stop releasing to the PC Platform altogether!

Good Read...PC > Consoles IMO...Get a 360 gamepad for ur PC and I hardly see any difference...

But Piracy on consoles is also huge...Force Unleashed 2 was never released on the PSP bcos of hw easy it is to pirate games on the PSP. There are entire sites devoted to piracy on PSP.

The thing is that I personally feel that prices of games should be brought down...that is the best way to discourage piracy...50 - 60$ is too much to pay for one game which might just end up a disappointment
