PS3 Hacker Sued by Sony – Asks For Donations; Gets $13,900 in 2 Days
Man hacks PS3 system and people supported him with donations. Who wouldn´t?
The PS3′s first infamous hacker George Hotz is currently embroiled in a battle with Sony in court. Many others have been trying to follow in his roots in regards to hacking Sony’s system. While many are anonymous and have not been caught by Sony, one hacker has; and he’s currently getting sued by them – Alexander Egorenkov has, as a result, asked his readers to donate to him so he can cover his court costs; and he’s so far received nearly an astonishing $14,000 in 2 days.
Alexander Egorenkov has been working on bringing Linux back to the PlayStation 3 until Sony managed to get hold of his details and consequently stop him. Egorenkov describes the legal fees he needs to be too immense to handle by himself and asked his readers to donate. And, his plea seems to have worked as the hacker has so far received in excess of $13,900 within just an amazing two days since he made aware of his financial needs. Egorenkov said:
´´Guys, i never wanted to take money from anybody for my work. And i always shared my work and code with PS3 developers and community. Recently i was working on bringing Linux to PS3 back, as you all know, unfortunately SONY managed to stop me. Many of you offered donations to help me continue my work and i always declined as you know. But now i really need your help and support in this fight with SONY. Please help me to pay my legal bills which are immensely because i cannot pay them on my own.´´
He continued to thank those who donated to him by stating: “Currently, i got about 10000 euros. It’s not much but i’m thankful for that. Thanks to you all guys.” His initial message received nearly 300 responses of readers telling him that they’ve donated.
The exact same situation occurred to George Hotz – the root of the PlayStation 3 getting hacked. Hotz asked his readers to donate as the fees for court and lawyers was growing rapidly. Like Egorenkov, within two days of his initial plea George received more than he needed and was able to continue to fight Sony in court.

Well IMHO, he cannot do much against Sony, but the news is public now, and Sony got a bad publicity. We can wait and see how the things turn out on a PSN community.
